The manufacturer recommends the following steps for application:
- Apply a thick, even layer of the cream to the desired area.
- Cover the area with an occlusive dressing, such as plastic wrap, to help the lidocaine absorb into the skin.
- Leave the cream on for 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the desired numbing effect. An application time of 25 minutes is often cited for best results.
- Remove the plastic wrap and wipe the cream off completely before the procedure begins.
